Bayshore 1/2 Marathon

Jeff coming across the finish line after 13 miles!
His time of 1 hour 45 minutes... good job baby!
Deagan waiting for Jeff to come in.

It's been awhile...

No, I haven't forgotten about you all... we've just been slightly busy around here.
I posted a few things from the last few weeks.
This past holiday weekend we went up to Jeff's parents house in Omena. (Just above Traverse City). It was wonderful!!! We had a great time doing absolutely nothing. Literally nothing. Spent alot of time on the beach, went for a bike ride, had a campfire with smores (at 2 o'clock in the afternoon).
Jeff ran a 1/2 marathon in Traverse, the morning after we arrived. On four hours of sleep nonetheless! He did PHENOMENAL too! He placed 25th in his age bracket and 124th overall, out of like 1200+ racers. He did so good:)
It was fun to watch, and fun for the kids to cheer him in on the final track.
I will get pictures up soon:)

Movie Tent

Deagan was sick last week with a fever virus (nothing but a raging fever for a week straight every four hours). So we got creative with indoor activities. We made a tent in his room. He normally doesn't have the TV, but mommy had a very busy week in the studio so I gave them mine under his bed to watch movies:) They LOVED it!!!

Olivia's Kindergarten Orientation

Last week we went to see Olivia's new school. We got to tour her classroom and meet her teacher. There were also some of the kids there that will be in her class. They ALL looked so big compared to her...so big. She's just a tiny little stick right now. She's shot up in height, but she's a bean. She's a late 5, doesn't turn 5 until after school starts in the fall. Whereas most kids are already 5 or will be this summer. She was a little intimidated, but that won't last long!
I didn't take many pictures because we were just so busy viewing the classroom, cafeteria, library and finally the gym.
The gym has a CARPETED floor. I have never seen anything like it, so I had to show you!

Sprinkles

Mr. Deagan likes baby powder...down there... and one day last week he found the bottle of "sprinkles" in his room and decided to throw a party! This is how I found him. He was rubbing his tummy and saying, "feels so soft momma!"

Kensington Metropark

Olivia got nearly two feet from this chipmunk before he ran away. Right before she went up to "pet" him, she turned around and asked, "mom do they bite?" My response, "No, they run!"

We went Friday night for a nice long walk at Kensington Metropark, a huge park by our house. The kids were loaded up in the stroller and Jeff and I walked. We discovered this great dirt path around a lonely lake, it was filled with thick forest and fun little bridges to cross. What fun!
this is the lake that we walked around, at the half-way point look-out.

Olivia and her super soccer kick!

It rained ALL day Wednesday. And when I say all day, I mean ALL day! From sun up to sun down!
So all day we expected that our soccer game would be canceled...but it wasn't. There was a "break" in the weather from 5:30-6:30 where it was on and off rain. But no thunder- so GAME ON!

Our kids were all a little flustered out on the field not quite sure why their mommies and daddies were encouraging them to play in the rain instead of sheltering them from it:)
Well long story short, we all but slaughtered the other team. Wait, I mean, we don't keep score or anything...so there is no winning or losing, but this time we did PHENOMENAL!
We have been coaching these four and five year olds for three weeks now and for most of them, tonight it finally "clicked!"
It was amazing to see- in the pouring rain and all!

And the best part of the whole game, little miss Olivia scored her first goal. She stole the ball away and dribbled it all the way down the filed, past a few defenders and drove it right into the net! She was a woman on a mission.
We were so proud of her and the entire team!

WHAT FUN:)

Olivia... always thinking!

So last night we were reading a collection of stories that we have in this book, and one of them is little red riding hood. We get part way through it and she says,
"what momma would let their little girl walk all the way to her grandma's house all by herself anyway!"
It was pretty cute:)

TCP Website and Blog

Hello everyone! I am very proud to announce that my new website and studio blog are up and running. Most of you know (it's hard not to) that I've been doing photography for awhile now. Things have been progressing very fast in the last few months, and now I felt that I had enough material to start a professional website. It's been up for a few weeks now and I've had rave reviews. It's just about tweaked to where I would like it, sans a few outdoor sessions. It's an evolving work in progress...But I'm dying to let you all see it so here you go:

www.triciacarterphotography.com

Enter Flash, not html, it's much prettier:)

And I just started a studio blog, literally last night. So watch for that to be updated soon!

Thanks for all of the support:)

Deagan goes to school

This is Deagan's baby hand with the very LARGE corn kernel from this lunch. When I went to pick him up from school today, he said that there was something in his nose. Well I thought it was just a boogie, without even looking, and told him to pick it. Later this afternoon I found out that it was actually corn. At first I didn't know what it was, so I called the school to see what they could have been playing with. They said that they had corn for lunch and that was it!

Jeff and I had to hold him down to get it out! Minor surgery and there it is!

And then he ate it! EWE, I was laughing hysterically, so much so that I couldn't hold the camera still to take the picture!

My best investment this spring!

Olivia and Deag love their crocs, and I've always wanted to get them the croc boots- but they are like $50 a pair. So that wasn't happening. Well at walmart last week, I saw the walmart brand knock offs for $13 a pair. THEY ARE AWESOME. Lightweight, easy to clean, they can put them on and off by themselves, and they can go through anything! Specially the rain and mud!

Miss Princess

Playing in the rain

Playing in the rain. Deagan did not need an umbrella, but the princess had to have one!

Olivia and Mav

Olivia and Maverick in the studio taking a "rest" NOT a nap. aka she's getting too old for naps and mom tries to push them on her, then we settle for a "rest."

Rainy Days

We've had rain for the last few days. As long as it's not thundering or lightening, I let the kids play outside.
They LOVE it:)

Four years!

I just realized that this week marks my FOURTH year of posting!
Can you believe we've had a blog going to four years?
It's addictive. And it's great to be able to look back and remember things that I have forgotten:)
Thanks for reading!

Convo @ lunch

We were eating lunch today, a little later than usual... actually almost nap time for them. So they were a little loopy.
Olivia says, (completely randomly and very fast) "mommy I would like to go to Louisiana with maddy and laney and see those elephants that smash pumpkins. And take Deagan and Sophia this time because they didn't get to see it last time because you and Miss Angie were off getting pregnant!"
I was rolling on the floor!
So, Angie, apparently we were a little busy!

However, I nicely corrected her and said that Deagan was in fact with us and did see the elephants.

Her reply, "good! Then he liked them and would like to see them again!"
