Along Came A Spider

So I was unloading the kids yesterday after a trip to the park, and I took Olivia out first. Then I walked around and was taking Deagan out when she screamed "DADDY" louder than I've possibly ever heard her scream. She came running around the van screeching with this terrified tearful look. She said there was a bug and it tried to bite her. Ok yeah, big deal right?!?!
Well I walked to the door and there was an open box from our Sam's trip yesterday sitting next to it (Olivia meanwhile was still on the other side of the van crying for Daddy). I kicked the box and out wiggled a spider. So you're probably thinking awe a little spider scared the two year old....OH NO! This thing was the size of my fist!!! Hairy and hissing...ok maybe not hissing, but it might as well have!
Seriously, it's the biggest spider that I've ever seen in my live- pet store or not! It looked like someone's pet tarantula, but meaner. It had two legs (maybe tentacles) sticking up off it's head as if to inspect me (or spit venom, I'm not sure).
Anyway, I ran over and picked up Olivia and Deagan, hussled them inside. I was seriously pacing in the kitchen saying the f and s words repeatedly thinking what I was going to do next. I couldn't step on it, for I might not kill it or it would hop up and bite my leg. So I quick looked for any bug spray that I could find under the sink. Got some random ant killer and grabbed the mop out of the closet. I told Olivia to wish me luck and out I went. (she was still crying and shaking).
I sprayed the damn thing down with the ant killer- which had no effect but to piss him off more. So then I resorted to what any woman would do, I chased it while whacking it repeatedly with the mop until it fell over and curled up and died.
Good example/Bad example for Olivia I don't know, but the damn thing didn't make it into the house and didn't bite anyone so I'm happy!

HipHip Horraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

For the first time on Tuesday, Olivia went from 8am-8pm without a diaper and had ZERO accidents! Plus we made a trip to Toys R Us in the middle:) She's doing really well, we have a panties only clause in our house and it works pretty good. (except for yesterday, when I braved the no-diaper trip again to her playgroup- where she was too busy playing and "let just a little bit out mommy.") Slowly but surely we'll get there...

And Deagan is feeling MUCH BETTER. He actually slept from 9pm-5am straight, without waking up for his pacifier. Pacifiers are the death of my children and sleeping, Olivia used to do the same thing- wake up three times a night without even opening her eyes just to be plugged up by the paci...Apparently, she passed it along to Deagan! He technically sleeps through the night great...if you plug him. But he's getting better at not wanting it and sleeping more.

We're just hanging out this week, trying to get things back to 'normal' :)

This picture is from a few weeks ago. Deagan was just starting real food and I wanted to share with you a little story. When Olivia had her first food the birds were chirping and heavenly music was playing, it was so peaceful and great. Well, not for Deagan. He had his big sister shouting at him "EAT IT DEAGAN, NOW!!!!!" poor kid! He didn't even get a chance to enjoy it....but he does now, a few weeks later:) Posted by Picasa

Weekend in review

A little bit of a song for your amusement (not necessarily mine)- about our lovely weekend stuck in this cracker jack box house w/ everyone (except Jeff) sick!

one nonsick person
two high fevers
three stuffy noses
four loads of laundry
FIVE MINUTES OF SANITY
six trips to walmart
seven hours of broken sleep
eight if you're Olivia
nine times a day yelling "Use your manners!" and "Leave your brother alone!"
TEN minutes it'd take me to back my bags (for Hawaii that is)
eleven doses of medicine
twelve times we'll do it again this year!

Hope you had a good weekend:) ...maybe next weekend will be for us!

Still Sick

Well it's been a week and Deagan is still sick, so I took him in again for a check up. She was amazed that after three rounds of antibiotics he's still resilient and not responding. He still has a double ear infection (going on 20 days now) and still bronchitis. BUT now we get to add sinusitis to the list. He has an endless supply of green goo in his nose at all times. Poor little man can't suck his bottles cuz he has to come up for air all the time. He's hilarious and laughs when I suck his nose out with the hospital ball aspirator- it must tickle or something!

Anyway, she was afraid that he had pneumonia, so we went in for another chest xray...but that was negative. (Olivia got to watch behind the 'special glass' as the "tv took a picture of brother's tummy" so she said very excitedly).
So we went home and waited anxiously to know if we were going to get an all expenses paid weekend at the hospital, but we didn't;)

Now he's on yet another new antibiotic, an oral steroid, and another med added to his breathing treatments.

Ok, he can get better any time now!!!!!!!

Olivia's quote of the week

This one I am not proud of, at all, yet it is pretty hilarious...

"Do it and die Maverick!" says my two year old angel while attempting to prevent the dog from attacking the cat.

! TrAfFiC !

At the moment I cannot think of anything that frustrates me more than traffic. Traffic filled with terrible drivers who rear-end each other and cause major back ups. Traffic due to the gazers that stare at those drivers. Traffic due to semi trucks that cannot seem to keep their trucks on the straight as an arrow highway, thus veering into the middle and causing yet another back up. And finally traffic due to the 100,000 post-Katrina population of my little 25,000 pre-Katrina Slidell. IT FRUSTRATES ME MORE THAN ANYTHING that it takes seriously three to four times as long to make a trip that never, ever took more than 15 minutes across town! There, I said it and now I feel better:) Thank you for reading and no I will not pay you for being my shrink;)
