Update on Olivia

I took her to her pediatrician this morning for a check up on her fingers. Unfortunately they are not healing well at all and actually one looks worse!
One of the stitches had fallen out of her middle finger, causing a gap that was leaking blood. The stitch had torn the itty bitty piece of skin that was left, so there is nothing that they can do now for that whole.
As for the other finger, the one that we thought was the 'better of the two' is actually worse. It had a huge chunk missing off the tip of the finger. Well it has turned completely white, which means that it is not receiving any blood flow and therefore isn't able to regenerate.
Our doctor seemed pretty concerned. She's been through a heck of a lot with us over the past three years, and I've never seen the face that she had today. She looked terrified of what she saw- which in turn terrified me. And she's discussing the options of seeing a plastic surgeon. With possible home wound care starting this week. We have to go see the doctor every other day until it's healed enough to see what's really going on there.
Olivia is in tons of pain, mostly in the evening after a long day. She's a trooper and catching up on lots of story time and cartoons. We've added another pain med today to help her relax before the dressing changes, because it's so traumatic for her. I hope it helps! Poor little sweetie!
