Happy Half Birthday Deagan!

First, let me start off by saying holy cow I can't believe that our boy is already a half year old! It goes so fast. And our lives have been in a tailspin since his birth, I still don't feel grounded. Things have been all over the place and I just plain lost track of time! I still don't even feel settled in our house yet! And my mind is always a few steps ahead thinking of when we might move again, so I consciously don't let myself get settled...and that's terrible! I think out of all of us, Olivia is the one who feels most grounded. She has her school, her classes, and her best friend back. Not to mention plans of grandparents coming down, so she feels pretty good about her life. If only we could get her daddy home faster! I'm very thankful that she is so young and she isn't too affected by anything. And Deagan, well he doesn't know any different! He thinks life revolves around long car trips and getting poked and prodded by the doctor all the time!

On a totally positive note, he had his six month check-up today. He's finally getting back on the growth charts and into normal percentages. He's still 20# 2 oz, but that might be due to his week long hunger strike last week...I think due to teething, but he just plain wouldn't eat. He might have been trying to lose a little weight or something..HAHAHA! Anyway, so he's 90th % for weight.

sidebar- For you non-baby folk, 90th percentile means that out of 100% of the babies his age, only 10% weigh more than him.

And he's a shorty too. He's only 26 1/2 in tall and in the 50%. So I guess he's right on target for height- he just likes to grow out right now, not up.

The funny thing is that he is in the 148th percentile for head circumference. WOAH! He skyrocket off the charts, yet again. Silly little man, but he's so gosh darn cute with that huge man head:)

The best news of all is that his month and a half long double ear infection has FINALLY come to an end! He took his last three week treatment and it did the trick:) I was so happy to hear that we didn't have to mess with that again!

Now if we could only get his reflux to go away and teething to pass so that we (I) can get a full night's sleep...PLeeeease!

Today Olivia went to see her very first movie in a movie theater. She had a great time!!!! We went with the Dick Family and sat in the front (of the stadium seating part). The girls had fun dancing around to the music. It was a really cute movie. For the most part it held their attention. But the best part was that SHE loved it:) Posted by Picasa

Our First Mardi Gras Parade!!!!

Tonight we joined Angie's family in attending our first Mardi Gras Parade!!! And it went a little something like this,
We left the house at 6pm. Ryan and Angie got an awesome spot along the parade route, right on the road and on a corner too, so that we didn't have anyone around us really. For those of you northerners like myself, it's kind of like football tailgating meets homecoming parade but you go home with a bunch of cool stuff...too much stuff. We hung out sipping Starbucks (thanks Ryan!) and munching on brownies- figuring the parade would roll by around 7pm....but oh no. It didn't come past us until well after 10pm and it lasts for well over an hour. And of course I didn't pack any food for Deagan, nor did we eat dinner before we went. So I walked over to Walgreens and bought chips and string cheese for the girls (real healthy I know) and a bottle and formula for the baby. The girls hung out in the back of their mini van watching movies. Occationally coming out to run into the road to see if it was coming yet. Olivia had no idea what to expect, as this was her first parade of any kind, ever. And Mardi Gras was a little chaotic for her. The first few floats that came by she was out on the street yelling for beads and stuffed animals. Then came a marching band with a huge drumline...and she FREAKED OUT. So here I was with Deagan in the backpack on my back and Olivia in my arms screaming to go hide in the van. So I let her crawl in the cave and she didn't come back out. She stood in the back of the van waving her light up wand, wearing her beads and yelling "go get some more momma!" She had a lot of fun watching from the comfort zone of the van. It was cute. Eventhough I'd love for her to be outgoing and have crazy fun, I've learned to accept her reserved attitude and understand that sometimes you can have just as much fun watching other people be idiots;)
Overall it was really good to get out of this house and have a little fun, and forget for just a few hours about Daddy being gone! Thanks for inviting us Ryan and Angie, we had a GREAT time:)
